Teracom has sold its Finnish DTT platform PlusTV to local operator DNA.
The 220,000 subscriber network will sit alongside DNA Welho’s existing offerings over cable and ADSL. In 2012, PlusTV recorded a turnover of approximately €65 million.
“We want our customers to have easy access to all high-quality content, and we will make significant investments into new service features, such as the DNA Welho MatkaTV service, launched in early April, which enables viewing and remote recording of TV programmes also with mobile devices,” said DNA CEO Riitta Tiuraniemi.
“PlusTV has done a great job in improving the financial situation of the company especially in 2013. When we are outlining the future direction of the company we see that the development on the market will require a closer co-operation with a DTT network owner in Finland. DNA as a new owner is therefore a natural step in Plus Tv’s further development,” said Åsa Sundberg, CEO of the Teracom Group.
Plus TV was launched in November 2006 and was acquired by Teracom two years later, its subscribers boosting the state-owned operator’s total base, though Teracom found it tough to fend off subscriber erosion amid heavy competition.
