Canal Digital and TV2 have signed a new distribution agreement, six months after the start of the dispute saw the channels pulled from Norway’s cable network.
The new three-year agreement covers both Canal Digital’s cable and DTH subscribers and means Canal Digital Cable TV subscribers will again has access to all of TV2’s basic channels within the basic packages.
“Negotiations have for TV2 primarily been about getting recognition for the value of the production of news, sport and entertainment, which is resource intensive. The agreement we have negotiated is also the basis for further investment in quality content,” said TV2 editor Alf Hildrum.
“The most important thing for us has been to secure a forward-looking agreement that resolves all past disputes and enables us to focus on further cooperation. We welcome the agreement, and that we together with TV2 will develop television services that are adapted to a modern television everyday for our customers, added Morten Karlsen Sorby, EVP of Strategy and Innovation Telenor Group, and Chairman of Telenor Broadcast Holding AS and Telenor Norway AS.
The agreement includes scope for a number of new services including catch-up TV.
