Gastinger becomes new CEO at ATV

April 25, 2013 07.23 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Martin Gastinger_(C) ATV_KainerstorferATV programme director Martin Gastinger will become the new CEO of Austria’s ATV broadcasting group on May 1.

Dr. Ludwig Bauer returns to Munich at his own request and will be responsible for the further TV interests of Herbert G. Kloiber’s Tele München Group (Tele 5 and RTL II) until the end of the year.

Martin Gastinger, who has been working at ATV since April 2007, said in a statement: “I am looking forward to taking on greater responsibility at ATV, which is clearly Number One among Austrian commercial broadcasters. We have recently shown that we, too, are able to draw nearly one million viewers to the TV screen at ATV. The channel is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year and will continue to surprise viewers in the future with its innovative program content and outstanding TV entertainment.”

Ludwig Bauer: “My five years in Austria were full of challenges, yet it was incredibly fascinating to develop ATV and to launch ATV2. Thanks to the unique creative freedom accorded to me by the owner, Herbert G. Kloiber, to the unwavering support of Tele München Group and, of course, to our talented and creative colleagues, we can look back on five truly positive years. I am returning to Munich with pride in what we have built up and achieved together.”

Herbert G. Kloiber: “I would like to thank Ludwig Bauer very warmly for his tremendous commitment in Vienna. In the past five years he managed and developed the channel with exceptional skill. Martin Gastinger is one of the leading creative minds in the German-language TV landscape. His ability to develop ever new audience-pleasing formats have brought him renown far beyond the borders of Austria. I am very pleased and confident to entrust the further development of the ATV broadcasting group to him.”
