German publication Manager Magazin and the Bloomberg agency are consistently reporting a bid by Liberty Global for Kabel Deutschland (KDG). However, there remains no official confirmation of the speculation.
Both media suggest that Liberty wants to head off a potential takeover of KDG by Vodafone Deutschland.
A spokesman for Liberty Global in Cologne and a spokeman for KDG in Unterfoehring both declined to comment on the rumours.
Any takeover of KDG by Liberty Global would place the company alongside Kabel BW and Unitymedia in its German portfolio.
