Al Jazeera has launched new innovative apps for its Windows Phone 8 users.
The new apps will provide them with full-featured news from the most popular sections of the Al Jazeera English and Al Jazeera Arabic websites, with free access to 24-hour live broadcasts and the latest current affairs programmes.
The Windows Phone 8 apps, built in close partnership with Nokia and Microsoft, receive up-to-minute information, as well as an innovative My Topics feature that allows users to personalize the way they receive the news.
They also introduce parallel scrolling to provide deeper interactivity, engagement and context for every story through video, related content and high quality imagery.
Commenting on the launch, Moeed Ahmed, head of new media at Al Jazeera Media Network, said: “We are delighted that Al Jazeera’s multi-award winning news and current affairs coverage is now available on Windows Phone 8 devices.
“The launch of the Windows Phone 8 apps comes after our successful Blackberry 10 and Android Tablet launch. Today’s announcement reemphasises our commitment to ensuring that people can consume our content whenever and wherever they want – whether it is on a tablet, mobile device, PC or connected TV.”
