Kymba VOD for kids launched

KymbaKymba, a new Video-on-Demand service designed specifically for children is laucned for viewers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The VOD service focuses on children aged 2 to 14 years and offers animation and live action films in different languages such as German, English and Dutch. Programmes in French, Italian and Spanish will be made available in the future.

Programming is available on a subscription base (at EUR5 a month) or viewers can buy 25 credits for EUR5 to watch using a pay-per-view model. For the Dutch market, Kymba is also offered to schools with monthly subscription fees varying between EUR200 and EUR300, depending on the number of pupils.

Kymba offers “violent free, responsible , funny and educational programmes” on www.kymba.eu. The programmes are not interrupted by advertising. Around 300 hours are available with programmes including Alfred J. Kwak, Anton, Boes, Bamboo Bears, The Fairy Taler, Starstreet, Once Upon a Time… The Americas, Seabert, Moomin, Pocket Dragons, Altair, Papyrus, Dragon Hunters, Scruff, William Shatner’s, A Twist in the Tale, Mowgli, Mirror Mirror and The legend of William Tell.

“We partnered with producers and distributors who share our values and offer compelling and high-quality content”, said Tim Seegers, marketing manager of Kymba. “ This is one of the reasons why we co-operate with the German distributor “Your Family Entertainment” for the German content.“

“We are pleased to contribute with our educational and non-violent programmes”, added Klaus Forch, EVP sales and legal of Your Family Entertainment. “Series such as “Altair” or “Pocket Dragons” have an educational focus and are loved by kids as well as by parents all over the world.”

Germany’s Your Family Entertainment and Dutch Heusinkveld Ommen Beheer are the companies behind Kymba.
