April 11, 2013 08.51 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

upc-reflectDigital cable and IPTV were the big winners in Hungary’s subscription TV market this February.

According to data published by the regulator NMHH, their share rose from 29.3% to 30% in the month, while that for wireless services was unchanged at 34.2%.

Although analogue cable still claimed a 35.8% share, almost two in three subscribers (64.2%) now opted for digital services.

The total number of digital cable and IPTV subscriptions stood at 876,147, while the DTH/MMDS total stood at 913,959.

A further 84,142 customers opted for the pay-DTT service MinDig TV Extra operated by the incumbent telco Antenna Hungária.

UPC was still the leading provider of subscription TV services irrespective of technology (26.7% market share), closely followed by Digi (23.2%) and T-Home (23.1%).
