Laura Corina Georgescu, the president of Romania’s National Audiovisual Council (CNA) has been accused of forging official documents related to changes in audiovisual legislation.
Furthermore one of her accusers – Valentin-Alexandru Jucan, a fellow council member, has said he will press criminal charges against her.
Local reports say that Jucan, along with Florin Gabrea and Narcisa Iorga, two other council members, have held a press conference in which they expressed their frustration that a decision amending the audiovisual content code, adopted unanimously by the Council on March 28, was published in the Official Gazette in a different form to that agreed.
Specifically, it was missing two amendments, one related to the prohibition of gambling on TV and the other to images “intimate details of people” shown on TV after midnight.
The three council members have indicted that they will refer the matter to the government, parliament and European authorities.
Georgescu denies any wrongdoing and says she acted fully within the recommendations of the CNA’s legal office.
