SPI International is launching its new FilmBox Arthouse movie channel on several DTH platforms in Europe and the US this Summer.
FilmBox Arthouse will be the first worldwide movie channel featuring auteur and independent films from all over the globe.
With its worldwide distribution profile, FilmBox Arthouse will be available for DTH platforms, cable, IPTV, mobile, Smart TV/Connected TV with related VOD rights. It will be the sixth worldwide channel in the SPI International portfolio after the successfully launched and globally distributed FightBox HD, FashionBox HD, DocuBox HD, Erox HD and Eroxxx HD.
FilmBox Arthouse channel is going to make independent and art films more widely available to the public. SPI International is also developing a multi-screen app to make the channel available on the Internet-connected devices.
In addition to the traditional acquisition activities which are taking place at MIPTV, the new content for FilmBox Arthouse channel is also expected to flow via the withoutabox.com, a global platform which is used by film festivals all over the world to connect with independent filmmakers and facilitate the submission of their works. The so-called festival titles will be one of the most important segment in the channel programming offer.
In connection with the Withoutabox submission account, SPI International has also established the Filmbox Movie Award, an annual competition whose winner will receive a cash prize of $50,000 to support his or her next movie project. All the films eligible for the Filmbox Movie Award will be aired on the Filmbox Arthouse channel.
