The leading digital set-top box provider Kaon is to help GVT launch advanced DTH and hybrid DTH/IP platforms in Brazil in the first half of this year.
To do so, it has entered into regional manufacturing operation in Manaus, Amazonas, with a provider of worldwide electronic manufacturing service and solutions.
Production got under way on March 12, with the first delivery of boxes being made on April 1.
Kaon is based in South Korea and has representation in Norway, Germany, Dubai, Russia, India, Brazil and Mexico.
Its products range from mid to high-end IP/hybrid STBs supporting DVB-T, DVB-S/S2, DVB-C together with IP/OTT apps and Android/Linux-based OTT solution, as well as gateway solutions.
GVT is one of the fastest growing telcos in Brazil and has been backed by Vivendi since 2009.
