Cyfrowy Polsat has issued a statement strongly denying reports that it is interested in buying Wirtualna Polska, one of the leading web portals in Poland.
In it, the company says “as we have repeated many times, we see no direct synergies between the activities of Wirtualne Polska and our group in the areas of broadcasting and TV production as well as pay-TV.”
It adds that “undoubtedly we could identify some energies in connection with our internet service ipla, but for Cyfrowy Polsat to be interested in such an acquisition the price would have to be half the quoted PLN500 million (€119.2 million) or lower.”
Wirtualna Polska is currently owned by the incumbent telco TPSA and earlier this year analysts valued it at PLN450 million.
