Russia’s Rostelecom ended 2012 with 6.6 million pay-TV subscribers, a 12% increase on a year earlier.
Of the total, the number of interactive TV subscribers more than doubled to 1.4 million, with the penetration of optical networks reaching 34%.
As a result, the telco claimed a 49% share of the Russian interactive TV market as of the end of last year.
Rostelecom also had 9.2 million broadband subscribers at the end of 2012, a 12% increase year-on-year.
It passed a total of 33.8 million households, or 6% more than a year earlier, of which nearly half (48%) were via FTTx technology.
The company’s revenues were up 7% year-on-year to R321.3 billion (€8.1 billion) and it made a net profit of R35.2 billion in the year.
