Mediaset slumps to loss

mediaset-card-20112012 was a disappointing year for Mediaset, with pay-TV revenues in its Italian business amounting to €518 million, or €7.2 million less than in FY 2011.

Integrated TV activities meanwhile generated a loss of €328.5 million, compared to an operating profit of €359 million a year earlier.

The group as a whole, which has interests in both Italy and Spain, had net consolidated revenues of €3,720.7 million in FY 2012.

A net profit of €225 million was meanwhile transformed into a loss of €287.1 million over the same period.

Mediaset nevertheless remained the leading provider of multichannel services in Italy, its DTT (free and pay) audience share in FY 2012 amounting to 7.2% (FY 2011: 5.9%), ahead of RAI DTT (6.3%), Sky Channels (6%), Fox Channels (2.3%) and Discovery (3.2%).
