IP is the key to multiplatform user engagement, according to Mourad Veeneman, VP Technology, Liberty Global.
In a wide-ranging presentation on the company’s strategy, he added that it would soon launch mobile services as a MVNO and maybe in the future become a mobile operator in its own right.
Veeneman also said that Liberty Global planned to move as much of its platform to the cloud as soon as possible, echoing what Mike Fries, its president and CEO, has also recently stated.
Veeneman referred to Horizon as a “game changer” and also said that Liberty Global would soon be offering internet access at up to 200 Mbps.
In addition, he was of the view that DOCSIS 3.1, which will “take a leap in Gigabite speed” and is only “around the corner”, will allow the company to compete with FTTH.
