B.net implements Agama TV quality assurance

March 19, 2013 08.38 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Agama Technologies has announced that B.net, Croatia’s leading cable operator, expands its Agama quality monitoring set-up with Agama’s Embedded Monitoring Solution to cover the complete end-to-end cable TV service distribution. The deployment will empower B.net’s organization to be more systematic and proactive in ensuring service quality and further increasing customer satisfaction.

B.net, owned by Telekom Austria backed mobile telco Vipnet, operates a modern hybrid fiber coaxial network infrastructure in Croatia’s main urban centres, and offers telephony, broadband and TV services with a focus on the residential customer segment. In August 2012, B.net was awarded a QUDAL gold medal for the quality of its digital TV service, and to further improve both the customer experience and market position, B.net now extends its existing Agama installation with embedded set-top box monitoring for efficient end-point video service quality assurance. The business and implementation are conducted in partnership with regional systems integrator CS Computer Systems.

“By building out our Agama quality monitoring solution, to reach from the head-end site all the way to the point of actual service consumption, we will have complete transparency of the delivered service quality throughout the end-to-end distribution,” says Adrian Ježina, member of the board for multimedia, cloud and fixed access, at Vipnet.

“The addition of real-time and historical information on how the TV service is delivered to each individual customer at the end of our hybrid network will enable us to work more proactively to raise delivery performance and improve efficiency in our service operations and customer care processes.”

With the extension, strategically positioned Agama Analyzers across B.net’s network are complemented with the Agama Embedded Monitoring Solution, seamlessly integrated with the hybrid IP/DVB-C Albis SceneGate 8100 STBs to perform continuous and stateful monitoring of service QoE, QoS, usage, and system health for each device. By processing, correlating and presenting all relevant information aggregated from all monitoring locations, the central Agama Enterprise Server provides unprecedented end-to-end insight and understanding of the delivered video service quality, and shows the extent of any problem and its source.

“It’s with great pleasure we see that B.net takes the next step in its strategic service assurance efforts by implementing our Embedded Monitoring Solution and leveraging its modern technology platform,” added Mikael Dahlgren, CEO at Agama Technologies.

“The combination of hybrid platforms and modern quality assurance systems available today, enables cable operators to take on a holistic approach and build a truly business supporting foundation to achieve the desirable mixture of reduced operational costs and increased customer satisfaction. This growing trend will generally benefit all TV viewers in both the short and long run.”

Agama is showcasing its complete solution for end-to-end video service assurance at TV Connect 2013 in London.
