Cyfrowy Polsat has issued a clarification of the current state of the pay-TV market in Poland.
This follows what it says was incorrect information that emerged following a press conference the company held on March 12.
According to Cyfrowy Polsat, by its estimation the market is almost saturated, with the figure of 0.5 million potential new subscribers quoted in some publications being actually existing DTH subscribers who will change operator every year because of natural migration.
Every year, according to operators, between 10-15% of pay-TV subscribers decide to change providers.
Cyfrowy Polsat sees further growth taking place in the number of existing subscribers taking internet services, as well as growth in their interest in such additional services as multiroom, VOD and PPV.
Cyfrowy Polsat ended 2012 with 3,566,144 subscribers, or an increase of 0.4% on a year earlier.
Its revenues in 2012 rose by 17% to PLN2,783 million and net profit by over 100% to PLN598 million.
