The Polish public broadcaster TVP has posted a surprising gross profit of PLN26.7 million (€6.44 million) for the first two months of this year.
This is despite the economic problems it faces and PLN25.8 million better than the financial plan for this year anticipated.
It was also PLN21.1 million more than in the same period in 2012.
TVP now finds itself in a stable situation in terms of liquidity, with its cash balance being around PLN125 million than during a difficult period half a year ago.
Revenues from receiver licence fees were meanwhile PLN9 million more in the first two months of this year than in the corresponding period in 2012.
However, revenues from advertising continued to fall, though this was more a reflection of the state of the market than TVP itself.
