Eutelsat has signed a five-year extension contract with TDA, Algeria’s national broadcasting company, on the Eutelsat 5 West A satellite in order to pursue the rollout of DTT across the country.
The renewal is for a 36 MHz transponder connected to a high-power footprint centred over Algeria to feed the terrestrial transmitter network, enabling DTH reception with 60cm dishes.
It will allow DTT services to become available through the country, either terrestrially or via DTH.
The DTT service in Algeria offers a number of TV channels including Canal Algérie, A3, Programme National, TV4 Coran and TV5 Tamazight, as well as 20 national and regional radio stations.
