In Brief: Style, HD+, Pathe Thuis, E!

March 6, 2013 07.54 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Universal Networks International, the channels division of NBCUniversal International Television, has announced that The Style Network will launch on the Virgin Media platform on Wednesday, March 6. Style will simultaneously refresh its brand and image with a new on-air look, logo and tagline in the UK and ROI, and around the world; following on from the North American refresh in mid-2012.

HD Plus Replay, the hybrid on-demand service from Astra Deutschland HD+ platform will soon add content from ProSiebenSat.1,. The HbbTV service launched last December and already offers on-demand content from the catch-up service from the RTL Group, RTL Now, Vox Now and Super RTL Now.

The Dutch VOD service Pathe Thuis is now available for viewing on Apple iPad. However, in order to circumvent Apple’s payment system, customers need to buy the movie on the Pathe Thuis website. Once acquired, the movie can be activated for viewing on the iPad for a period of 48 hours. Pathe Thuis is also available on Samsung smart TVs.

Sky Deutschland will be adding E! Entertainment HD to its line-up, a new channel from Universal Networks International Germany. The channel is due to start on April 30 and brings the total number of HD channels on the Sky D platform to 64.
