CABLE CONGRESS 2013 – LONDON. Markets in Central and Eastern Europe are opening up for floatations and what they want to see is sensible business plans.
This, according to Marisa Drew, MD, global co-head of Global Markets Solution Group, Credit Suisse, is something that cable in general plays well too.
She added that there had recently been a number of floatations in Russia, though not necessarily in the cable sector (the telco MegaFon, for instance), and that the market there was very dynamic.
However, it should be born in mind that there, as elsewhere in the region, investors had to balance this against risk factors.
Speaking in the same panel discussion entitled Financing Cable Growth, José Pedro Pereira da Costa, CFO, ZON, said that the Portuguese operator was in the middle of a merger process with a mobile company.
Its competitor PT already has quad play and this is something that it would like to replicate in order to become more competitive.
