Sat TV takes off in Croatia

March 4, 2013 18.54 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

MAXtvDTH services are growing rapidly in popularity in Croatia and were already received in 106,189 homes as of Q4 2012.

According to data published by the regulator Hakom, this was 3.33% more than three months earlier but a much more impressive 24.99% higher than in the same period in 2011.

Croatia nevertheless remains one of the leading IPTV markets in the CEE region, ending Q4 2012 with 366,974 subscribers.

This was 3.12% more than three months earlier and 3.30% up year-on-year.

Cable TV services, on the other hand, were received in 145,473 homes in Q4 2012, which although 0.53% more than three months earlier was 1.07% down on the figure at the end of 2011.

The number of homes receiving only DTT services meanwhile continues to fall.

It stood at 877,172 at the end of 2012, or 1.71% less than three months earlier and 3.45% down on the total in Q4 2011.

Revenues from TV services, on the other hand, continue to grow steadily. The total for Q4 2012 stood at HRK120,293,851 (€15,848,500), which was 3.72% more than in the third quarter and 8.25% more than in Q4 2011.
