Prisa’s pay-TV business increased its revenues by 6.8% in 2012, but at the expense of a 36,374 subscriber erosion.
The Canal+ branded service managed to increase its market share, suggesting that competitors are faring no better, amid Churn of 15.4% as at December 2012. Average revenue per subscriber (ARPU) stood at €44.2.
The revenues of €1,079.92 million can be attributed to the successful commercialisation of Spanish league football, following Canal’s agreement with Mediapro.
In September, the Group signed agreements with all the major pay-TV operators to distribute Canal+ Liga through them.
Additions from other operators, including OTT, added 38,000 to the subscriber total.
