Germany’s Feratel has reported over one million views of its smart TV app PanoramaTV.
The smart TV app shows live images from over 250 European destinations in HD quality giving weather conditions as well as tourist information from the region. Feratel is now planning the next step, to add a direct booking facility to the app on the TV.
The service has been available for some time on the internet and mobile devices, but Feratel recently also added the smart TV app, which is now available on most connected TVs from Samsung, LG, Phillips and others.
“In addition to the usual live pictures of a destination as an authentic HD video, on internet and mobile, people can now also watch it on interactive smart TVs,” said Dipl.-Kfm Egen Rainer, managing director of Feratel’s subsidiary in Germany.
Since last October, more than a million viewers have already accessed the service on a connected TV.
Deutsche Telekom, where the service is available as an app on its IPTV service Entertain, has up to 20,000 daily views. And Samsung has reported up to 25,000 views per day.
The app will be demoed at the ITB 2013 in Berlin (International Tourism Fair).
