The number of subscribers to digital services in Hungary has risen to 836,000 at December 31st, from 820,000 in November, according to new market data from the regulator NMHH.
The survey covers 4.1 million households, 3.2 million pay-TV households representing about 88% of the market including major operators Magyar Telekom, Invitel Zrt., UPC, Digi, UPC DTH and Antenna Hungária.
918,000 subscribers received service from one of the DTH satellite operators, while the terrestrial based MinDig TV Extra had 83,000 as of December 31, 2012.
UPC remained market leader among the cable and IPTV providers with 26.7%, Digi was second with 23.2% and third Magyar Telecom.
Among the satellite providers Digi is market leader with 35.6%, Magyar Telekom holds 29.1% and UPC is third on 24.3%.
