FilmFlex has announced a new partnership with the UK cablenet Virgin Media.

The multiyear agreement covers the the development, rollout and management of next generation video-on-demand services as well as procuring and curating film content for Virgin Movies.

Initial product developments planned in 2013 include the introduction of multi-device playback through Virgin TV Anywhere, Virgin Media’s cloud-based entertainment service. FilmFlex and Virgin Media also plan to work together on the further development of the movies-on-demand service offered on Virgin Media TiVo.

“This milestone partnership with Virgin Media will see the creation and development of brilliant new applications to evolve Virgin Movies over the coming years” said Jeff Henry, chief executive officer at FilmFlex Movies. “There has never been such an exciting time for the video-on-demand business and we are delighted to be extending our relationship with Virgin Media with whom we have had a long and successful collaboration”, Henry added.

Aleks Habdank, director of digital entertainment product at Virgin Media said: “As the home to the greatest choice of films on TV, Virgin Media is always looking to develop new ways to bring our customers the very best, most recent content whenever they want and wherever they are. FilmFlex, as experts in movies-on-demand, are key strategic partners for us as the growth of digital entertainment continues apace and we look forward to the next exciting chapter of working together”.

FilmFlex manages Virgin Movies content licensing and management and, for the online service, FilmFlex handles platform and website operation, content management, billing and customer service.

Virgin Movies was relaunched last September, having previously been branded as FilmFlex, which has now opted for a white label strategy.
