HBO Nordic has launched its service in the Danish market over the IPTV service Telia TV.
New episodes of popular HBO series will be made available, with Danish subtitles, within a day of the US premiere.
In addition to HBO content, output will also be drawn from Starz and Fremantle. An on demand service will supplement the linear channel.
HBO Nordic, which runs separately from the rest of HBO’s European operations, made its debut in Sweden last November, adding Finland the following month.
“We want to cooperate with the leading television providers in the market. Telia’s strong position and clear ambitions in the TV market in the Nordic countries made them an obvious choice for us, “says Hervé Payan, CEO, HBO Nordic.
The initial three months will be made available free of charge, before a DKK 79 per month fee is introduced.
Early programming will include The Borgias, starring Jeremy Irons, and the premiere of Vikings, based on the life of Danish King Ragnar Lothbroks and featuring several Scandinavian actors.
