NOW TV is to launch a 24-hour pass to the six Sky Sports channels. At £9.99 per day the offer is far from cost effective – it costs £21 per month to add Sky Sports to a TV subscription – but will no doubt be attractive for one off events.
Available from the spring, it marks the first time that Sky Sports has been available without subscription. The service has been in beta since December.
Barney Francis, managing director of Sky Sports, said: “The launch of Sky Sports on NOW TV is an exciting step forward. We want to open up more choice for sports fans by offering a new and flexible way to enjoy the best live coverage across our six channels. This is a way for us to reach new customers and bring the excitement of Sky Sports to an even bigger audience.”
Sky has secured coverage from all of its major partners to enable coverage of events including the Barclays Premier League, UEFA Champions League, England Test cricket, Heineken Cup rugby, ATP tennis, NBA basketball and NFL.
NOW TV is available on a range of internet-connected devices including PC, Mac, iPad and iPhone, selected Android smartphones and Xbox.
Entertainment channels are due to be added later in the year.
