The Russian Television and Radio Broadcasting Network (RTRS) has provided further details about its HbbTV plans.
Speaking at CSTB 2013 and quoted by Comnews, its deputy CEO Viktor Pinchuk said that it is currently testing three platforms, all of which have been produced outside the country.
Once a decision is made, RTRS will launch pilots in three large cities, each with a population of over a million, employing DVB-T2 consoles with internet connections.
He added that the company is also engaged in talks with TV channels about the creation of additional content for hybrid services.
RTRS first discussed its plans to introduce HbbTV services into Russia late last year.
At present, HbbTV services in the CEE region are most highly developed in Poland and the Czech Republic.
