KartinaTV launches social TV in Germany

January 28, 2013 12.46 Europe/London By Robert Briel

KartinaTV stbKartinaTV, an OTT broadcaster for Russian-speaking audience outside of Russia, is collaborating with Comigo, the creator of a smart TV platform.

Under the agreement, Comigo will provide KartinaTV with its smart TV platform which includes: an IP set-top box, client applications for smartphones and tablets (Android and iOS) and web interface for Comigo’s back-end servers to support its personal and social features and capabilities.

KartinaTV, an OTT service provider, delivers Russian television outside of the Russian Federation, to residents of Germany, USA, Israel and the UK. With Comigo’s smart TV solution, KartinaTV is able to gain new revenue streams by monetising premium content across devices and offering new type of services to its customer base.

Comigo will also enable the Russian IPTV service provider to offer contextual value added services to its viewers and to mount micro-targeted campaigns which can be promoted through the users’ social networks.

KartinaTV is offering their viewers access to a wide range of content including 150 live channels with 14 days of catch-up TV, web based content, VOD and local content stored on devices connected to the home network (via Ethernet or WiFi) or on external storage (USB drives).

“Comigo’s smart TV solution is the most advanced platform currently existing in the market, offering personalised viewer experience and unique social capabilities,” explained Andreas Reich, CEO, KartinaTV.

“Our alliance with Comigo will help us reach out to the Russian speaking audience in Germany, a key target audience for us and help us gain market share.”

“Our smart TV solution combines TV content and Internet browsing, while fulfilling the viewer’s social needs. All via super simple and enjoyable UI,” commented Dov Moran, founder and CEO, Comigo. “We’re excited to have been selected by KartinaTV to introduce our advanced solution to a generation weaned on internet and social networks.”

Comigo is currently exhibiting at the CSTB forum in Moscow. Visit their stand between January 29 – 31.
