The number of Rostelecom broadband customers in Moscow exceeded 400,000 at the end of 2012.
According to figures from IKS Consulting, the total net growth of the broadband market in the capital region in 2012 was 240,000 households, 45% of which is accounted for by Rostelecom.
“In the face of strong competition in the Moscow internet access market, Rostelecom has managed to achieve such high performance in the short-term, in the first place, thanks to a sound and customer-oriented tariff policy. We gave our customers the opportunity to upgrade to a high-speed access to the internet without changing the price of the subscription,” said Dmitry Bragin , VP of Rostelecom’s Moscow branch.
“The growth in the subscriber base in Moscow in 2012, took place against the background of very low churn – less than 10% a year, well below the industry average,” he added.
