The Polish public broadcaster TVP has decided to apply for a licence to operate a kids channel on the country’s first DTT multiplex.
In a statement, it says that the channel will be known as TVP ABC and target children aged 4-12. A tender for a total of four slots was opened by the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) on December 20 and should TVP secure a licence TV ABC would make its debut no later than April 28, 2014.
Significantly, it has been reported that TVP’s plans for the proposed new channel include HbbTV services.
TVP’s services are gradually being migrated from the first to third DTT multiplex, for which it will have sole use.
The public broadcaster has a growing portfolio of thematic channels that will later this year be joined by TVP Dokument and TVP Rozrywka.
