French private broadcaster Groupe AB is launching its S-VOD service Jook Vidéo some time later this month.
The new service will be available for a monthly subscription fee of €6.99 for unlimited access to the library of movies and TV series.
Jook Vidéo was originally scheduled to begin last November, but was postponed till early 2013.
The new service is set to compete with the Canal+ S-VOD service Canalplay Infinity, as well as upcoming new offers from Amazon and TF1.
In a related development, SelecTV is gearing up to launch its push-S-VOD service Gizeh in cooperation with South Afrian based Altech. The new service will use capacity on the nation’s DTT network.
Despite the recent failure of TV Numeric to establish a premium DTT subscription service, Gizeh hopes to attract one million subscribers in the next five years.
