Digital TV Summit 2012 – LONDON. YouSee plans to launch its OTT service imminently, according to Mathias Berg, the company’s SVP.
Speaking in a panel discussion entitled Growing revenues in established markets, he added that its main USP in competing with Netflix would be local content and the fact that the company already has relationships with 1.2 million customers.
Significantly, he also ruled out YouSee extending the service to other countries such as Sweden as it would effectively have to start from scratch.
Netflix made its debut in Denmark last month and has initially been offered for free.
Berg also said that 50% of Danes already used YouSee’s services.
The company has just acquired a MVNO and will add mobile services to its offer on January 1.
