Digital TV Summit 2012 – LONDON. The leading Russian DTH platform Tricolor TV plans to shortly include a number of advanced services, including VOD, in its offer.
However, speaking in an keynote presentation at this year’s Digital TV Summit, Alexandr Nikiforov, the company’s head of external relations, said that it remains committed to offering a free basic package and will at the same time aim to raise ARPU through new packages.
Asked about the possibility of teaming up with a partner to offer VOD services, he added that the platform may seek a HbbTV solution but could not provide any more details at this stage.
Nikiforov also said that he believed Tricolor TV has now overtaken NTV-Plus in terms of the quantity and quality of its content.
Commenting on future targets, he added that it aims to have 16 million subscribers by the end of 2015, while the take-up of its HD offer, introduced only this summer, should reach 7 million by the end of 2014.
Tricolor TV had 11.5 million subscribers as of the beginning of November.
