Digital TV Summit 2012 – LONDON. Deutsche Telekom does not see OTT as an enemy and believes it has a role to play for traditional pay-TV operators.
In its case, according to Gerry O’Sullivan, the company’s SVP Global TV & Entertainment, it believes in setting up on its own, with partners and in innovation.
It has already linked up with Samsung to launch the Videoland OTT service and hopes it will be available preinstalled, as now on Samsung, on all main connected TV devices next year.
O’Sullivan said that the company’s remote control app has done very well in Germany. Its Entertainment App Portal, launched at IFA 2012, was meanwhile already offering 24 free apps, both own and third party.
O’Sullivan also said that he believed cloud-based services were around the corner.
