Eska TV launches HbbTV app

December 1, 2012 14.23 Europe/London By Robert Briel

WATCH VIDEO. The Polish music channel Eska TV has launched a hybrid TV service using the HbbTV standard.

The service is available on the Eska TV stations available on the Polish digital terrestrial DVB-T network. For the moment, the satellite broadcasts of Eska TV do not offer HbbTV.

The main feature of the HbbTV app is access to a large number of radio stations from the Eska group (Radio Eska, Eska Rock, WAWA and VOX FM).

Also available is a programme guide to Eska TV’s broadcast.

The HbbTV portal also provides access to additional text information, with music news and gossip about the artists. The information is provided by a number of Polish websites.

In the future the portal will also be enriched with videos, and many other commercial and multimedia services.

Eska TV is a free-to-air 24-hour Polish language music channel launched on August 8, 2008. In the beginning the channel was only available on the web.

After receiving a licence for satellite distribution, Eska TV became part of the DTH platform n on May 28, 2008.

On April 26, 2011 the channel received a licence for digital terrestrial broadcasting. The channel is in the first Polish DTT multiplex.
