The Austrian public broadcaster’s ORF 3 Kultur und Information is now available in Southern Tyrol via the DVB-T network of RAS (Rundfunkanstalt Südtirol).
The network serves German speaking viewers in Northern Italy with channels from public broadcasters ORF (Austria), ARD and ZDF (Germany) and SRG (Switzerland), who have allowed the retransmission of their programmes in the South Tyrol area.
At the moment, the RAS network carries a total of 18 DTT channels in four multiplexes: Mux 1: ORF1 HD, ORF2 HD, ARD HD; Mux 2: ORF1, ORF2, ORF3, ARD, ZDF, 3sat; Mux 3: SF1 HD, SF2 HD, ZDF HD and Mux 4: SF1, SF2, BR, Kika, arte, La1.
The signals for these channels are carried from their original area through the receiving station Patscherkofel and Hohe Scheibe (Sarntal) to the main station Penegal and from here they are distributed in the South Tyrol area.
More than 100 transmitters reach around 98% of the potential audience. RAS also broadcasts a large number of DAB radio stations from Bavaria. Austria and Switzerland to the area.
