Virgin Media has unveiled a new fleet of movie-themed vans. Inspiration has been taken from the 1960s puppet series Thunderbirds, and the Ghostbusters and Jurassic Park movies.
The vans will be driven not by Virgil Tracy, but the cablenet’s team of engineers, en route to provide international rescue in the form of TiVo and 120 Mbps broadband.
Mark Palmer, a Virgin Media engineer and now the proud driver of Thunderbird 2 said, “I am a big fan of the Thunderbirds, so being able to drive around in a van themed like Thunderbird 2 will be amazing! I can’t promise I’ll be dressed as Virgil Tracy or that I am the ‘Brains’ behind Virgin Media but I can certainly help to deliver our range of great products and services to customers. If anyone sees me, they should definitely give me a wave.”
Last year Virgin introduced vans based around the General Lee, the Dukes of Hazzard modified Dodge Charger and Disney favourite Herbie.
It is an intriguing area of competition with Sky that has its own series of vans sporting characters from The Simpsons or a super fury animal from National Geographic.
