Magyar Telekom saw impressive growth in its IPTV subscriber take-up in the year to September 30, the figure increasing by 52.6% to 291,872.
As a result, the latter exceed the number of DTH subscribers, which grew by 6.3% over the same period, to 287,284.
At the same time, the Hungarian telco saw its cable business shrink by 21.5% to 244,754 subscribers, while the take-up of its TV services as a whole grew by 6.6% to 823,910.
However, blended ARPU in the third quarter was HUF3,040 (€10.8), 1.5% lower than a year earlier.
Magyar Telekom’s subsidiary in Macedonia meanwhile ended Q3 with 58,046 subscribers, or 63.8% more than a year earlier.
Growth was less pronounced in Montenegro, the 15.8% figure posted by the telco’s local subsidiary bringing the subscriber total to 51,995 at the end of Q3.
Deutsche Telekom, Magyar Telekom’s parent company, also enjoyed success with its IPTV service Entertain. It ended the third quarter with 1.906 million customers, up 38.6% (531,000) on a year earlier.
