Motive signs software deal with Sagemcom

November 5, 2012 11.19 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Motive Television has signed a five-year software license agreement with Sagemcom Broadband for the use of its Television Anytime Anywhere technology in anticipation of the launch of commercial services by Digiturk in Turkey in the first quarter of 2013.

Under the new contract, Motive will receive a licence fee for each set-top box manufactured by Sagemcom for Digiturk, in Turkey plus time and materials as needed for technical support and training. Sagemcom can now commence the installation of Motive technology into set-top boxes for Digiturk for commercial use on a non-exclusive basis in Turkey.

On October 18, 2010, Motive announced a contract for $1.1 million, for integrating its patented technology into Digiturk’s transmission system and Sagemcom’s set-top boxes in advance of the upcoming commercial launch.

The project is currently in a soft launch and final testing status. Today’s agreement means that the Digiturk project moves from design and development and final testing to preparation for full commercial launch.

“With 18 million television households in Turkey, and over 2.5 million Digiturk subscribers, the agreement represents a major opportunity for Motive in terms of size and potential deployment of our technology,” said Leonard M Fertig, CEO of Motive Television, in a statement

“It is also an important milestone, as Digiturk is the first satellite platform to use Motive’s advanced technology, and we are confident it may lead to new opportunities with other major satellite television operators.

“Sagemcom is one of the world’s premier consumer electronic providers, and we look forward to this partnership creating more opportunities in the future.”
