Weiss and Farncombe rescue Mirifice

November 1, 2012 11.42 Europe/London By Julian Clover

Mirifice, the Bath-based testing and monitoring company that counted Ziggo and MTS among its customers, is to be split into two after the company was liquidated by its previous owners.

The assets have been acquired by Tom Weiss, the former owner of content discovery company TV Genius, sold to Red Bee Media in August 2011.

Weiss told Broadband TV News that an agreement had been reached with Farncombe Consulting to acquire the MiriATE automated testing system while an as yet unnamed company, owned by Weiss, would take on the MiriMON end-to-end TV monitoring system.

“There are vast amounts of opportunity in what we can do with this,” said Weiss. “Both are great products that need more investment.”

Farncombe purchased Mirifice Professional Services in July 2010. It is understood that the company has no intention of entering the hardware business and will work purely as a consultancy. Farncombe was unable to provide comment to Broadband TV News.

Mirifice had previously received venture funding from Yorkshire Fund Managers, and in July of this year entered into a partnership with the DTG to provide automated MHEG testing.
