Spain’s Prisa lost 50,785 DTH subscribers in the year to September 2012, due largely to the weak economic situation and an increase in VAT.
However, its revenues in the Canal+ business rose by 4.2% to €788.12 million and EBITDA by 14.3% to €175.45 million, and the number of subscribers to other platforms and OTT showed growth.
Satellite ARPU stood at €42 on average in the third quarter, while churn was 14.7% as of this September.
Prisa’s overall results were impacted by a fall in advertising revenues in Spain and Portugal, alleviated to some degree by an increase in Latin America.
As of the first nine months of the year, they accounted for 20% of the group’s revenues, compared to 21.8% in the same period last year.
