Triolan, one of Ukraine’s leading cable operators, has suffered a surprising fall in subscriber numbers.
Citing company and its own sources, ProIT says that as of the end the third quarter the total amounted to 211,000, or 33,800 fewer than three months earlier.
It adds that Triolan has put this down to the growing popularity of smartphones and tablets, which are driving business away from companies such as itself.
Although Triolan is still the second largest cable operator in Ukraine, its market share, recently reported at 10%, was only a quarter of the 40% claimed by Volia, the leading player.
The latter’s position will have since been further strengthened following last month’s acquisition of Odek.
