Lithuania completed the transition to digital broadcasting last night (Sunday/Monday, October 28/29), leaving what are thought to be tens of thousands of viewers without TV signals.
VZ reports that as of earlier this month around 14% of the country’s population were still watching analogue TV signals.
However, Broadband TV News believes this figure was probably much lower just prior to ASO, with strong interest having been shown by viewers in digital TV services offered by the incumbent telco TEO LT.
Needy families have until November 20 to claim subsidies for DTT receivers.
Although LTL10 million (€2.86 million) was allocated for these subsidies, only LTL600,000 has been claimed to date.
