Cyfrowy Polsat targets growth

October 26, 2012 11.34 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

The leading Polish DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat expects to gain subscribers from Cyfra Plus and n when the latter merge next year.

However, quoted by Wirtualne Media, its president Dominik Libicki was unwilling to provide a possible figure.

While Cyfrowy Polsat currently has 3.55 million subscribers, the merged Cyfra Plus/n operation will have around 2.5 million.

Libicki was speaking as it was announced that Cyfrowy Polsat is to upgrade its LTE-based internet offer, which from October 30 will provide access speeds of up to 150 Mbps.

He also said that Cyfrowy Polsat, which already operates a mobile TV service employing DVB-T infrastructure, expects to gain more subscribers as Poland moves to ASO, which will be completed in mid-2013.

There are still 3 million TV homes in Poland receiving only analogue TV services.
