Ukraine should finally see the launch of the DTH platform Lybid TV on November 1.
Telekritika reports that the service will be headed by Vyacheslav Mordachov, the former president of Tricolor TV.
However, unlike previously reported, it will have no connection with the Russian DTH platform, being instead Mordachov’s own project.
Mordachov has applied to for a licence for the platform and expects it to carry around 32-34 channels, though negotiations are still continuing with broadcasters.
Lybid TV undertook tests on Eutelsat W7 in September 2011 and was originally expected to launch at the end of last year.
Once up and running, it will operate in a market also served by Viasat Ukraine, Xtra TV and NTV-Plus.
