Deutsche Telekom has ruled out selling its 40% stake in the Greek incumbent OTE.
Quoted in Handelsblatt, Claudia Nemat, Telekom’s board member for Europe and Technology, said that OTE is profitable and is set to win mobile customers.
OTe’s IPTV network has just announced it has reached the modest total of 100,000 subscribers.
Telekom only expects a slight improvement in many of its European markets in 2014 due to the difficult economic environment.
According to Nemat, its current aim is to slow the decline in sales and it managed to halve its H1 this year.
It has agreed reduction in its workforce in Hungary and talks are also taking place in Greece. Telekom has a particularly strong presence in CEE, listing Hungary, Croatia, Slovakia and – through OTE – Romania among its markets.
