UPC Polska has conceded that negotiations with some content rights holders for the viewing of Horizon on mobile devices are proving to be “very difficult” in Poland.
However, speaking to Wirtualne Media, Jaroslaw Pijanowski, a member of the board at the operator, added that agreements with others had already been reached.
In a wide-ranging interview, Pijanowski said that there was still no launch date for Horizon in the country despite preparations for its introductions having already got under way.
Commenting on other aspects of UPC Polska’s strategy, he said that it plans to launch mobile telephony and mobile internet services in the first half of next year.
To do so, it will build on the services that were already offered by the cableco Aster, which it recently acquired.
Pijanowski also said that UPC Polska at present has no plans to withdraw analogue cable TV services, which as of the end of H1 were still received by around 640,000 of its subscribers.
Furthermore, he revealed that the TVN Player on demand service would not appear on its own VOD service UPC na zadanie.
He also said that UPC would like to launch HBO GO Europe-wide rather than just in Poland.
At present, UPC Polska allows viewers to watch HBO OD via decoders.
