UPC, working in partnership with Vodafone, is one of three possible contenders to become a MVNO in the Czech Republic by the end of the year.
According to E15, the others are Ringier, which would cooperate with the incumbent telco Telefónica, and Tesco, in partnership with both Telefónica and T-Mobile.
Commenting on the introduction of MVNOs in the country, Pavel Dvorak, president of the Czech Telecom Office (CTU), said they would be granted three-year licences.
