MIPCOM 2012 – Cannes. YouTube is set to launch a new generation of original channels coming from France, Germany, the UK and the US.
Google last year launched 100 channels in the US, and the top 25 channels now average more than 1 million views each week, Robert Kyncl, YouTube’s global head of content wrote in the official Google blog. A taster of the new channels can be found here.
The new channels will include productions from BBC Worldwide, Endemol (as reported in Broadband TV News), Euronews, UFA, Fremantle, ITN and many others.
Programming will be advertiser supported and Google will split the revenue in excess of the front money paid to the production companies.
